    Choy Lay Fut training

The footage in this video was shot during the course of regular training sessions over the last few weeks at the Ng Family Chinese Martial Arts Association in chicago. I think it is a pretty good representation of what training is like at our school. Comments welcome

Some forms training, sparring disscussions and limited sparring(body only)

Looks great!! I have to say that CLF is one of the few TCMA's that actually take the time to build real skill!

Nice training sets. Know where I can get a good deal on one of those B.O.B. training stands?

Just from an outsider's perspective it looked like a lot of the Sanda legwork was similar to Muay Thai (the roundhouse, thrust kick). Have you ever had a chance to compare notes with MT practitioners and if so how did that go?

muay thai and choy lee fut share alot of commonalities.

really nice clips, impressed by both the sparring and the training clips, wouldn;t be out of place in a thai or MMA gym

like the use of the overhands, shovel hooks and uppercuts that how i like to play my CLF on the pads and in sparring

Those techniques are found within choy lay fut training but to be fair a few of the instructors at the school (myself included) have cross trained in muay thai at some point. As far as comparing notes, I'm not sure what you mean, if you mean spar with or compete against then I have sparred with many muay thai exponents during my time training muay thai and have used the concepts gained from choy lay fut and found them effective.

    Thanks for the compliments everyone.

    Good stuff !
    a couple of suggestions:
When training body shots only, remind them to still cover their heads and not lead with their faces, I know its hard not to do it, but mistakes like that suck in the real world.
In regards tot he sanda clips, they are great BUT there are ways to throw "wide hooks" that do NOT leave you as open and it is probably a good idea to train them too.
But I am sure you guys now that and I am just being nitpicky.

    Great clips !

    Great clips !
Actually that wide swinging overhand kind of reminds me of Chuck Liddell's overhand right

True, but it wasn't the overhand I was talking about, its those swinging hooks from "down under".
