The New Uniforms For Legends Football League Are Still Basically Lingerie
    Leah Goldman | Jan. 24, 2013, 2:23 PM

At the beginning of January, the Lingerie Football League announced that it would be rebranding the league and renaming it the Legends Football League.

The biggest change to the league was supposedly the uniforms, the athletes would wear "performance wear," the press release said, instead of lingerie.

Well, some of the women in the league went on Fox and Friends Tuesday in their new "performance wear" uniforms and they are basically exactly the same as the lingerie uniforms.

LFL founder Mitch Mortaza said the reason for the rebranding of the league is to "empower the women," and "shift more of the focus to the sport." Mortaza also said that people already come to watch LFL for the sport and not for the sex appeal and that you actually get more sex at a women's beach volleyball match.

    Right.

Here's what Mortaza had to say about the uniforms:

"We've removed all of the lingerie aspects from the uniform, and really focused on the sport."

Mortaza added that the "logos are less sexy."

Hm. The uniforms still look exactly the same to us. Here's the new one:

    l

And the uniform from the LFL's last season. So, they got rid of a bow and a necklace?

I remember watching SF and the Bengals. It was all about Icky Woods and the Icky Shuffle back then. And of course Captain Joe, king of kings!!!

Doesn't look like that much of a change, does it. They should just suit up properly and waste eachother. Lingerie in sports is just dumb. If I wanna see women on women I'll just download some porn or talk my woman into a threesome.

Don't follow football that much anymore, kind of lost interest after Montana and Young retired.
Still, the niners get my vote.

Have to go with the Ravens just for solidarity with my brother, they are his favorite team and I don't really follow football.

As for the Scantily Clad Football League, the sad truth is most of their viewership is likely only watching to see women in lingerie pummel each other.

Ravens will win. 49ers might come close, but I don't think Kappernick can handle the Baltimore defense.

Baltimore Ravens' Arthur Jones fit to be champ

NEW ORLEANS — If the Baltimore Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday, defensive lineman Arthur Jones will become the second world champion in his family. And he intends to keep his training at a level that produced the first champ at the Jones home.

Win or lose, the third-year pro plans to take a month off to rest and “be a fat kid” before heading west to Albuquerque, N.M., where he will help his brother Jon train to defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 on April 27.

Jones has spent parts of his past two offseasons working out with the crew at Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts, mimicking the training his brother undergoes to prepare for fights.

“It’s helped my game out and made me successful in football by helping him out,” Jones said.

This year Jones plans to bring along younger brother Chandler, whose rookie year as a defensive end with the New England Patriots was ended by Arthur and the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

“I don’t think he knows what to expect,” Jones said. “I told him it’s not a vacation down there. It’s hell. Running those sand dunes, swimming at Sandia High School, pad work. There’s so many different things. It’s a lot of great work.”

Jones said he can still outwrestle his UFC champion brother because “I’m the older brother. He’s the toughest — I’ll give him that — but I still take him. I’ve never been beat, and that’s on the record.”

Jones said his family will represent Endicott in New Orleans for Sunday’s game, and he expects he and his middle brother “will probably get in a hotel room and do a little wrestling.”

The key to his strategy in such showdowns is to “wrestle him in a small space. That gives me the advantage.”

While Jones is a football player, he also was a two-time high school state champion heavyweight wrestler. He says his wrestling background has paid big dividends in his football career, on everything from technique to being disciplined about eating, as wrestlers have to be.

“Leverage, hand fighting, being mentally and physically prepared — so many things in wrestling transfer to football,” he said. “It has absolutely helped me.”

A 6-foot-3, 315-pounder drafted in the fifth round in the 2010 draft, Jones is in a contract year and said he hopes to “re-sign with Baltimore and be there for a long time.”

Jones said one of the things he has noticed with the Ravens is the leadership on the team. The players are enjoying their visit to New Orleans, but have not wanted to get out too much.

“Right now, on our team it’s about staying poised, not playing the game too soon,” he says. “Last night (Tuesday), I got back to the hotel about 7:30 and a lot of guys were watching film — and it was our off day. That’s the kind of leadership we have.”

The tone is set by Ravens coach John Harbaugh, Jones said.

“He’s a player’s coach. I’m really blessed to have a coach like him. He says, ‘Let your personality show’ and he’s really down-to-earth. But he knows when it’s time to take care of business, we have the leadership on this team to do that,” Jones said.

I think the valuable lesson we all learned here tonight is you never doubt the football knowledge of a man raised 25 minutes from the winningest college football team in the modern era.

I was in SF on business over the weekend

My business had me near Japantown, Little Saigon and Polk Street. I couldn't really watch the game, just grab scores as I took care of business. Japantown hardly seemed to know the game was on because there was a half marathon. Little Saigon had a Tet festival - caught a great traditional drum corp. Polk St was drenched in **** and vomit, more so than usual, as the bar scene down there was packed. It was a fun weekend, even though we lost.

I watched the game. I had no favorite because i'm not a big football fan for the last couple years.

I do feel like the calling could have been much better. But, I feel for the refs. Too strict and people get mad. Too lax and the people get mad. It's a no win situation, really.

Also, I laughed at the jokes about Ray Lewis killing the power.

I was too annoyed to acknowledge this yesterday, but I must bow down to MK's superior football prognostication skills as it was opposite of many predictions. Truth be told, I'm not much of a fan of pro sports. I just jump on the bandwagon when a local team is in play.

How much did you win, MK?
