the best way to practise speed is to practise the movement fast. maybe 10 kick sets fast as possible, rest for a while and do it again. remember to be relaxed as possible and not to lock your knees while kicking. Warm up properly before doing anything.

You can kick the heavy bag if you want to. It's safer for the knees, but kicking to air is fine too.

PS. What style do you practise? we seem to live in the same city.

The best way to get a faster kick is to p!ss off a guy who has a fast kick. Then you'll get a faster kick :)

    Developing speed in kicking - - -

Kicking the heavy bag will develop power, speed comes from lots and lots --- of attention to technique.Practise kicking without using a bag and increase your flexibility with lots of stretching.A good book (if you can get it in Finland)is--"The Art Of Stretching And Kicking" by James Lew(Unique Publications,Inc.)Hope this helps. oossuu!!! :D :D :D :p

    Art of stretching and kicking

I don't like the book that much. The stretches illustrated require a lot of flexibilty to do them right and book doesn't mention how long and how hard you should stretch.

im with martial joe and everyone else. we practice everything slow to develope the proper technique like everyone else said. there is a time to practice fast of course but your body learns more going slow.

    where's my beer?
