When Wing chun(詠春) meets Muay Thai (泰拳) by Sifu Leo Au Yeung.

In the interests of futhering his understanding of the martial arts, Sifu Leo Au Yeung recently travelled to Thailand to study & train muay thai, & compare/contrast some of his wing chun knowledge with some of the MT guys out there; here's a little showcase of his time, with a few thoughts on what can be gained from the cross-training:

Any feedback or thoughts on this or such endeavours would be much appreciated...

Look, good that he went and did a training stint at a thai gym.... will certainly give him a better understanding of how they train.

But i wonder, whats he going to do with that experience at his school?
He says introducing sparring, but is that going to be with A MT flavour or will it be strictly WC

Anyway, i hope to see a follow up video and hope it goes well

Always good to see an instructor of any art do the metaphorical equivalent of "putting on a white belt" and becoming a student again in another art.

I think what most WC schools could learn from MT is their training regime. very physical training with tons of conditioning. That is if your really training to learn how to fight.
Otherwise just forget what I said

  6. He sure is treated like a Farang...

I like when he gives a one inch punch and his instructor pretends to be hurt...

That is rather presumptuous. His short range power looks genuine here:

i think people put have different interpretations of what 1 inch is ....come to think about it they also have different interpretations of what short range is

just once id like to see this type of demo done without a warm up/settling in process and without drawing the arm back before striking because both of those makes the atcual demo useless for real fighting

    Thanks
Doesn't claim to be one inch.
Its hard not to move with a punch, find with palm strikes i don't have the tendency to move...
