FWIW, I think the Japanese government should have made a formal apology a long time ago, and done its best to make restitutions to survivors. But this continuing to blame Japanese people as a whole by some (many) in Asia is really tired and played out. NO country or group has clean hands in regards to committing atrocities and whitewashing/denying it.

They've apologized numerous times, it just appears that none of the apologies have ever been good enough.

So some mis-translations and a non-existent text book problem are what's providing all the butt-hurt? While I would say the Japanese leadership and right-wing elements don't help the situation, and there are a lot of other things the Japanese should accountable for, to say they haven't issued apologies or given out reparations is a lie.

When Japan invaded China, the way that Japanese believed was exactly the same as how "some" American believed when US invaded Iraq. Instead of "Bring democracy to Iraq", they believed they "bring prospertity to China."

The invasion is always a bad thing. The wound will never healed.
