    Joe's at it again

I think he's funny and he's being honest, so it doesn't bother me... but I thought some of you would get a kick out of it.

More of Joe Rogan's thoughts on kung foo.

Rogan is such a troll. It's always kind of hard to sit back and listen to someone bash something you spend so much time and money perfecting but he has valid points.

You dont train to fight by fighting, you wont be able to fight. Especially against someone who trains in such a way.

Kung Fu is easy to pick on.

    Because, what is Kung Fu?

Is your Kung Fu the same as mine? Someone else's? Does your Kung Fu even look anything like your fellow students? Your teachers?

Personally, I think he's talking about Occam's razor and how Kung Fu is overcomplicated in it's approach to what is a simple set of tactics in actual usage.

Every style of Kung Fu I've encountered has those basics in it. Those basics are what a great deal of us will use when it gets down to it in sparring or in a fight.

The thing about kung fu styles is that they each have their "didn't see that coming" moves particular to them.

In the end it is and has always been.

    1. Guts
    2. Strength and Stamina
    3. Technique

And 2 and 3 rely on individual practice. In any line of martial arts study. If you don't have 1, the rest will give you good exercise anyway.
Kung Fu is good for you.

joe can be a douche for sure. But some of the things he says are true, some not. IMO TCMA's has put themselves out there in many of the situations with all the wack jobs. People don't remember the good stuff they remember the chi blasting dim mak idiots. It's put a stigma on the Traditional side.

why is it the ones that are most outspoken end up being the most ignorant-on both sides.
"My Gung-Fu may not be Your Gung-Fu.
    Gwok-Si, Gwok-Faht"

"I will not be part of the generation
    that killed Kung-Fu."

    ....step.

You are very right about that. A huge problem is a lot of people who train MA don't have any kind of warrior spirit. They sort of psych themselves into a little false reality and imagine they are living in a kung fu movie. The masters of 100 years ago didn't have any illusions. For them MA was not a hobby it was a way of life and a very confrontational way at that. On Joe Rogan, hes sort of an idiot. He makes some valid points. I often feel that he is a tool used by the media UFC machine to rope in slightly smarter people into their money scheme. The truth remains though, he does drugs, he himself doesn't live in reality most of the time. To be honest after doing time in the military, MMA doesn't work on the battlefield.
