    This may not be the most desirable answer, but imho the best "bench marks" will be the results you have while sparring or at least drilling with another person. No other result will really matter as much if someone can easily knock you back or knock you out of your desired stance. When you drill, be aware of whether or not you can "take more power" from the person you're drilling without being moved back at all. Once that's there, incorporate moving + drilling. Then play with it. Drill so that your partner is moving forward while you maintain your position. Ultimately, it's the pressure of another person that will let you feel your stance is improving.

    I agree. Unless "standing in YGYKM" is the end game, and I don't know how that works, it all depends on your purpose and what qualities or attributes you are trying to develop.

    Thanks and for what its worth I agree as this seems to make a lot of sense.

    My original question was really looking to see if there were standard stages of development in solo training that marked progress.
