    1930s shuai chiao painting

I came across this painting by the artist Foujita Tsuguharu some time ago, but only found a reproduction recently. I thought it might be of interest to some of you. (You Know Who, perhaps?) Dated 1935, it is titled 'Wrestlers in Beijing' and is an interesting contemporary record of wrestlers 'back in the day'. It is in the collection of the Akita Prefectural Museum.

If anyone is interested in the artist, I have written a little about him on my blog

The SC boots and chest exposed jacket are both correct in the SC tradition. The more chest that you can expose, the less area that your opponent can grab on you. This is the major difference between the SC jacket and the Judo Gi (no chest exposed).
