People don't like to be told they're suckers, you got to make them think they figured it out on their own.

You can have Kung Fu in cooking, it really has nothing to do with fighting!

Hung Gar has some noticeable dynamic tension building in it's form sets but nothing like those Southern Crane styles that emphasize making sounds or shaking during this process. Do not practice any of that myself but have always practiced dynamic flexing integrated in everything I do cranestyle gongfu. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQsNgQPGgfo

A boxer only spends a small part of his training in "solo". most of his training will either be with a partner or a training equipment such as a heavy bag.

Runners and swimmers are doing for "health" only. There is no "combat" element in it.

Yes and no...meaning, competitive runners and swimmers are in it to win races against other competitive runners and swimmers; not all of their intense training is necessarily done for the sake of, nor always good for, their health. And although running and swimming may not be directly related to fighting, I imagine the origins of competitive running and swimming had much to do with survival and military training (i.e., hunting, charging, stalking, pursuing, evading, are examples). There is quite a difference between doing those activities for serious competition vs. just doing it for health.
