    Casino royale

saw this the day after it came out here in ny. man what can i say, while some purest may say the daniel craig , was cold and emotionless and blah blah, i got to say from a strictly action film perpective, this film was the best bond film ever. it was raw, bond had to really work, and it also had the best torture scene i've ever scene in a bond film. it's deffenatly worth the price of admission. but if your expecting to see your regular devil may care bond then don't see this film.

Forget the "purists". The old bond image was way too cartoony. This Bond has what the whole dark knight renaissance brought to the last Batman film.

    Its got GRIT.

It brings Bond back to what he really is, a killer spy.

Brains, sweat and skill are this Bond's strong points. The gadgets were kept to a minimun. No jet packs, no submarine cars.

Connery had that grit. Thats what made him the best Bond of his era.

I hope they keep this feel for the next few films. He may develop more of a sense of humor later. But it will be more plot driven snide humor.

I think swartzenegger over did the quippy kill lines already.

As far as being "purist" goes, Craig's Bond is actually much more true to the Fleming novels than the cheeky, fun Bond of most of the films.

The Roger Moore Bond films were crap, this one definitely more like original idea.

Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond since Sean Connery, and this Casino Royale is my favorite Bond film since Thunderball. 007 is "licensed to kill," therefore this movie lives up to that; once more, James Bond is edgy and dangerous as he was meant to be. IMO, Craig is every bit as good, and maybe better than, Sean Connery was as Bond. Certainly in the physical combat department he is better.

BTW, the bomb maker he chases early in the movie at the construction site is amazing. That guy would excel in a fight scene with Tony Jaa.

i really thought it was well done. he did a good job with the role. the only thing i thought objectionable was the "the job is done, the b!tch" is dead" comment in the end. i feel like it showed a lack of class and what is james bond if not classy?. i understand why it was said i just think it should have been said differently. but all around a really great movie. best action film in years and best bond film in decades. the pakour seen was mind blowing. the fights were well choreographed. they even brought back the Astin Martin. I cna't say enough good things about the movie. i think that whether this bond ends up being the 2nd greastest bond ever will be entirely based on his subsequent movies. i thought brosnan was a decent bond inhis 1st movie but the next 2 were just awful. so lets hope this guy doesn't start to get ridiculous or more importantly that the plots don't get cheesey. aal in all i say it is a must see.

All right, think about it. You are essentially a paid assassin. Yes, you must schmooze the ladies when necessary, but overall, you must be prepared to kill or be killed. That is the mission. Nothing can be left to chance. Every move needs to be prepared or prepared for in the event that circumstances change. Even on a moment's notice.

This is martial. Not necessarily MA, but DEFINITELY martial in nature.

    NO?

Daniel Crag by far the toughest Bond ever. And I have seen a couple Bond movies

The movie was a bit of a bore, that is when there is no action going. The opening sequence was the best scene of the movie. I thought it blew away any scene in District B-13. The brutality of the fights made the movie worth watching. I loved how messy they got. Overall I like the Pierce Brosnan films more but Daniel Craig is the shi*.

isn't he supposed to be new to the secret assassin game in this one? so perhaps he didn't become suave until later in his career.
and btw, did anyone see "layer cake"? it's on dvd, stars daniel craig. really good.

From what I understand, it's supposed to be the story of the origin of the one know as 007.

This is true but it isn't a movie about what he was before he was an assassin, just the beginning of his career.
