    Balisong in Movies/TV: animated GIFs

    Ching sifu:

    *bows deeply*

I've been making GIFs of the balisong from movies and posting/sharing here. I consider the balisong as FMA, hence posting in Other Arts. With Pacific Rim, I understand the move to Martial Media's Pacific Rim thread.

Going forward, if no thread exists in Martial Media for the movie, should I post in Other Arts or create a movie thread and post in MM?

    TIA!

Very truly yours in the MA,

    ~sg

    The Outsiders (1982)

I have been making animated GIFs of the Balisong Knife in Movies.

Here is Emilio Estevez flipping the butterfly knife from the 1982 movie, The Outsiders:

    3 more GIFs here:

    http://www.stickgrappler.net/2013/10...outsiders.html

Also, there's a link on that page to the Kickstarter project to make a balisong documentary called Way of the Balisong.

If you can support the project financially that would be awesome. But if not, feel free to spread the word on it please!

    Mabuhay ang Balisong!

    Greetings,

Outlaw Brothers is a Hong Kong film starring Yukari Oshima and Frankie Chan.

There is also the 1997 Mel Gibson movie, Payback.

In the movie "Pray for Death", starring Sho Kosugi, there's a very short scene involving the balisong. The character played by Kosugi is tied up and the bad guy uses one to make a cut in Kosugi's chest.

Don't know if that qualifies for what you're looking for.

At any rate, best wishes for your two projects.

    Greetings,

The earliest presentation I remember that featured balisong use was "TNT Jackson". Notice that the weapon is much longer. At @ 8:10

There might be another scene. I can't find it.

    Hello mickey:

    *bows deeply*

THAT IS A GOLDMINE! THANK YOU!!

I have a list of 50 or so movies/tv episodes, but didn't have TNT Jackson. First i saw the title and thought you meant Action Jackson which is on my list, but when i checked it wasn't.

You mention another scene, meaning within the same movie right? If so, no worries, I will be watching it LOL at me!

    THANK YOU AGAIN.

Very truly yours in the MA (and GIF-making projects :-) ,

    Hello Jimbo,

    *bows deeply*

Thought I posted yesterday a reply... I have Payback on my list already, but THANK YOU for Outlaw Brothers!

Back in da day, I liked Frankie Chan but he didn't seem to be in that MANY movies or perhaps I didn't have access to them. Recall him in Prodigal Son and one movie with Cherie Chung - name escapes me ATM, will IMDB him.

    THANK YOU AGAIN!

LOL at me -- this was a second post mentioning Outlaw Brothers, I DID thank you previously - always want to express my gratitude from help I get from anyone and would feel bad if I didn't. *WHEW*

    Greetings Stickgrappler,

That movie appears to have been shortened. I remember two other fight scenes, one of which had TNT Jackson fighting topless. I did not see them in that movie link.

I do not think they emphasized balisong use but I do remember a guy who had this giant blade hidden between two sticks.

    From http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072245/

    Storyline
Her name is Diana Jackson, but you can call her T.N.T. When T.N.T.'s brother is killed by ruthless drug dealers, the beautiful young karate expert goes to the most dangerous part of Chinatown to find the killer. ... and fighting criminals while nude and in the dark. Just call her T.N.T. Written by J. Spurlin

You are correct = perhaps youtube's anti-nude video policy forced uploader to edit out those scenes

i will see if my library has a dvd of this movie

    thanks again!

    Greetings Stickgrappler,

I work on commission. Let me know when my chunk arrives.

    Re U Tube:

You can put up just about anything on there as long as people don't flip and flag it.
