Thread: Preferred entering strategy

  1. #1

    Preferred entering strategy

What is your preferred entering or engaging strategy ?

    Why ?

What is your preferred technique along with the entering ?

    Why ?

What is your follow up ?

    What is your ending ?

    Comment away.

    I voted side entrance.

I move back half a step or move to the side half a step.

I engage the opponent's approaching arm from his outside.

I dodge away from his attack.

I may introduce a mid punch to his rib side. While my other hand is guarding or gua his approaching arm.

This is a basic move of mantis.

There are many variations and lots of techniques from side door.

    My point is that

Do you categorize your entering, engaging and finishing moves and strategy ?

How do you group your moves in your style or whatever you are practicing ?

Do you have systemic methods to study and practice your style or system ?

I knock usually, in case the kids are sleeping.
    No kids? Doorbell.
    No doorbell? Knock hard.

These are my strategies for entrance. They're not my key strategies. My key strategies are to use a key.
In all fairness and in context to fighting, that video is pretty ridiculous. lol

would it not depend upon situation? preferred in what situation would be more adequate. Street, sparring, competition, multiple opponents, etc. etc.... because each has it's own faults and positives.

Agreed that what ever opportunity presents itself.

    We do whatever.

Our defense would be denying the opponent from entering.

Our offense would create or take advantage of an opening to enter.

However, we do need to have a general gameplan for these opening scenario.

Ba gua does prefer side and back door.
