    The Ghouls 鬼吹燈之尋龍訣

I don't know this book series nor if this film will have any martial arts, but I really like Wuershan's work, particularly TbtC&tS and PS2.

A press conference was held today in Beijing for The Ghouls 鬼吹燈之尋龍訣, director Wuershan 烏爾善 and producer CHEN Kuo-fu 陳國富's long-rumoured adaptation of popular adventure novel series Ghost Blows Out the Light.

A co-production between Huayi Brothers Media Corporation 華誼兄弟傳媒股份有限公司, Beijing Enlight Pictures Co Ltd 北京光線影業有限公司 and Wanda Media Co Ltd 萬達影視傳媒有限公司, the hugely popular online novel series is about the adventures of a former soldier and his partner trying to undo a curse by visiting mythical sites across China.

The series includes eight books, with China Film Group Corporation 中國電影集團公司 holding the adaptation right to the first four instalments and Wanda holding the rights to the last four. However, Wanda's adaptation does have the advantage of having original author ZHANG Muye 張牧野 (aka, 天下霸唱) as a co-writer with CHANG Chia-lu 張家魯.

According to Chinese media, China Film Group's adaptation – co-produced with Le Vision Pictures Co Ltd 樂視影業(北京)有限公司 — will also begin shooting this year with LU Chuan 陸川 directing. However, no official announcement has been made.

An adaptation was also announced in 2007 with Johnnie TO 杜琪峯 as producer. However, the script was not approved at the time due to the story's supernatural and superstitious elements.

The Ghouls is set to start production in August with theatrical release already announced for 18 Dec 2015.

Though "The Ghouls" will only be screened in a small number of U.S. theaters, the Chinese horror film will debut on the world's biggest film market via the new ScreenX theater technology developed by South Korean firm, CGV cinema chain.

On Thursday, China's Wanda Group and CGV, the largest cinema chain in Korea, announced that the move is part of their partnership's expansion. The two agreed to further promote the new technology in the U.S. as well as in other parts of the globe.

ScreenX offers a 270-degree view to moviegoers with its panoramic and three-screen system. CGV co-developed it with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

Meanwhile, Wanda eyes to install more of this kind of theaters at major AMC locations in America. The Chinese cinema giant controls AMC and Australia's Hoyts theater chain.

The ScreenX version of the horror flick will be financed by Wanda and will be produced by the two companies.

"The Ghouls" stars Asian A-listers Angelababy and Shu Qi. It will be released in three countries, such as China, the U.S. and South Korea.

Currently, there are 76 ScreenX locations in 45 cinema houses across Korea. The technology is also being used in three key locations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Bangkok in Thailand.

A CGV spokesperson noted that they will increase the number of ScreenX locations to over a thousand in five years' time.

Since the South Korean firm's launching in China a decade ago, CVG has been operating in 49 theaters in the country. It also plans to raise this number to more than 80 in the next two or three years.
