Eddie Bravo is a genius. Comparing to him Royler Gracie is just very flexible.

Bravo was so dominant! some of my friends predicted prior to match if it was points, Royler would win. lol

    Thanks stickgrappler

I really enjoyed that vid. Like a old school challenge match, two titans battling it out. Bravo def had the upper almost the whole time.
Go hard or go home or some where else up to you

yep because royler only won the worlds four times, adcc three times and had the longest unbeaten record in adcc for decades where as Eddie......umm triangles royler, got spanked in the final by leo and retired never to be seen again.
royler didn't do well in the rematch he seemed to play right into bravos game plan but he is still one of the finest grapplers to have ever competed, Eddie is a good grappler and a very good marketing man who has never won anything outside of north America and who hasn't produced a single student of note, hardly a genius...

In the old school yes but "now" Eddie has developed his art beyond the Gracie family. Eddie's game is a level higher than Royler which explains why Royler just kept on pushing what he couldn't understand and fell into his traps one by one.

beyond the Gracie family, so he is beyond kron, beyond roger is he ....interesting view point you have....not to mention beyond renzo and rickson who have trained countless world and adcc medalists.
what again has bravo done on the world stage, or any of his students done With this masterful art of his??

He has his own weakness as a fighter which is why he couldn't finish the job with Royler despite of being at a higher level but his game plan is genius.

so again what champions has this man produced with his genius game plan? Simple question to answer surely? I mean since his game is better than the gracies at the moment and they have produced countless adcc medalists and world bjj podlum finishers with their old school ways??

Who cares about their students? Maybe he is a bad teacher or maybe he has bad students but what is important is that his stuff work in his hands.

works where exactly what titles has he won in the last 10 years? Again simple question so easy for you to answer you called him a genius , where's your proof other than this rematch his stuff works? His last competition wad in 2003 when veaira schooled him 17 points to nil, since then all he has done is roll with his students...

...And developing the good system that you can see "today". Anyway this Gracie dogma really reminds me of kungfu dogmas but fortunately in BJJ the masters dare to compete and at the end of the day what works "now" is the only thing that matters for the future.

what good system, he hass won nothing with it and you can't name a single student of his who has done anything with the system and yet its good and beyond what the gracies such as royler rickson and renzo who have produced guys at the top of the food chain competition wise.
And talking about daring to compete when your hero bravo took 11years off between matches to develop a system no one has used to good effect is kind of ironic

    Hello:

*puts left palm to right fist and bows*

I'm not for or against Bravo/Royler - fight was one for the ages.

Not trying to get into the middle of this discussion, but wanted to point out that sometimes one may be called a "genius" and in that person's lifetime, may not be recognized as such

Very truly yours in the MA,

    ~sg

    re: xinyidizi vs. Frost debate....

"Genius" is maybe stretching it a bit.

His (Braov's) game seems maybe a little overspecialized to Eddie which is why he hasn't produced a bunch of champions. Definitely an innovator.

As to who's "better"....I think Eddie is just Royler's "Kryptonite". Some fighters just match up like scissors-paper-stone. Eddie is just paper to Royler's stone. It's like his game is just perfectly matched to stuffing Roylers game. It's not always about being "better". Sometimes certain people are just better at defeating a certain type.
