Thread: Eddie Bravo vs Royler Gracie

I thought it was a highly entertaining match, Bravo clearly dominated and Royler demonstrated yet again how tough he is; the neck crank, the electric chair and calf compression would have seen off most people. I believe Bravo has been a breath of fresh air to BJJ by attempting to innovate and answer the problem of fighting no-gi against wrestlers and the clinch. In addition he has brought many people into martial arts and surely that is good thing.

In terms of measuring his quality based on the achievements of his students, that is one indicator but not the only one. His teams do well in the Gracie's and the Naga competitions too. His rubber guard to too much for my old hips but I have used many ideas of his successfully in BJJ and MMA grappling. I am happy fight from guard or half guard in part dues to Bravo's teachings. On a wider issue I think the future of grappling should be the submission only and none of that points stuff and Metamoris are doing a great job.
