Thread: A question about WC instructional DVDs.

A question about WC instructional DVDs.

Can anyone give me opinions on what are some of the better instructional DVDs for Wing Chun? I have formal training in the system, a decent amount actually, there is just no feasible way for me to get back into class for the immediate future.

I would like to continue training at home in the mean time. The two sets of videos I had been looking at are the Wing Chun Museum set on Siu Lim Tao, Chum Kiu, and Bill Jee and the Samuel Kwok set that covers the same material. I know the SLT and the first section of the Chum Kiu (my instructor isn't big on forms practice so we progress only very slowly on that subject), which of these video sets would be best for actually continuing to learn the forms from home?

I have spoken to my instructor and he has no problem with me doing this, in fact he is rather encouraging and has said he would be happy to answer questions or go over rough spots on the phone until such time as I am able to get back into class. So I am not entirely without instruction for the moment, it is just in a round about way.

Could anyone point me to a review of these two sets, or give personal opinions on these videos? Any alternate recommendations?

These are the best that I have tried.

    Greetings,

Since I am not a Wing Chun man, I ask the following:

Would the book set and videos by Randy Williams be good for someone like Arkansan? He is looking for a good dvd set as well as books that would detail the theory and mechanics.

    Would the aforementioned be helpful?

If yes, Arkansan, I suggest you shop around the second hand market (e Bay) for good prices

I would recommend any of Randy Williams' videos. I'm currently training in his system, CRCA, and the guy has wrote volumes of books on Wing Chun, and has made countless dvds. Check his stuff out- http://www.everythingwingchun.com/ra...ooks-s/215.htm
