The Chao family martial temple holds many memento's and artifacts passed down from Lo Kwai dating from his studies with Leung Jan through his teaching of his son and nephews. They and all subsequent family members continued keeping memorable keep sakes of their experiences including photographs. There is a group photo from around the time period mentioned,1919 that shows the Heirs of Leung Jan's kung fu in Fatshan, a family get together. The person in that photo identified as Ng So and the person in this photo look the same to me. Coupled with the fact that Ng So was the only public teacher of Leung Jan's Kung fu at that time and there for the head of the wing chun school in Fatshan leads me to identify the person in the photo as Ng Chung So

Interesting to see such a great portrait shot of a WingChun Master that most of us had only heard about.

Yes, the photo you posted in this thread. Rare find for your CLF lineage and thanks to you, for Yip Man and Yiu Choi lineages.

I went to the website bbs.voc.com.cn to see if I could find some context to that pic. I get an English translation but couldn't find anything.

I got this from someone: It looks like the selling and building of land. The equipment in the picture is of Surveying Instruments.
Dumpy Level- William Gravatt introduced the dumpy level in 1830. The Dumpy level was a simple device that was nothing more then a small telescope with a bubble level attached to it. Its telescope is short and fat (hence the name), and fixed in its supports. The level was considered the standard, uptil around the 1830's when the transit level was invented.

Though I don't know who the gentleman you are referring to is in the picture(and for the record, I am not a WC or CLF man)..I never did get a clear idea why WC and CLF were "mortal enemies".
