The Jolly Boys "Perfect Day" (Lou Reed Cover)

The Jolly Boys' cover of this classic was the first time I heard it. Even though I like the original, I prefer this cover. I guess first impressions are everything:

I met Rita Coolidge. Cool woman, very down to earth. I was very familiar with her work in the '70s and early '80s. One of the great singing voices of that era. "All Time High" is not necessarily my favorite song oh hers, but it was my favorite Bond theme (though the movie itself wasn't a favorite of mine).

    Greetings,

Diana Ross "One Love In My Lifetime"

The first time I heard the following was late last year. Medium? An audio cassette tape!

    Your cassette tapes still work?

TBH, I don't recall hearing that Diana Ross song before just now. Good entry, mickey.

Yes, Jimbo, I still have them. I heard that piece while visiting my sister. It was a pleasant surprise.

Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers: "Bustin' Loose"

The Late Chuck Brown is considered the Godfather of Go-Go music. This piece has a multiplicity of dance grooves. Just pick one and ride it on out.

Diana Ross: "Reach Out, I'll Be There"

This is a cover that is radically different from the original by the Four Tops. DEFINITELY worthy of a listen.

Diana Ross: "Now That You're Gone"

This piece was produced by Nile Rogers. It is interesting in that it presents the famous Chic Bass at a slowed pitch.

    Greetings,

    Seal: "Amazing"

This was performed at the Victoria's Secrets fashion Show in 2007. Seal was great and the show was equally so.

This has been my personal favorite Diana Ross song since I was 7 years old (in 1970). It's one of those great songs that's timeless and, at the same time, whenever I hear it, it transports me back to that time period.

Revised music for guitar and low budget orchestra with crack rhythm section

A lovely composition, especially how the percussion is integrated. Pure joy&guffaw. If you can't get enough, why not wash it down with the exuberant RNDZL, also hosted by PLASTICDADA II and with apt video acc.

Pardon the epilepsy-inducing video.... I scroll it out of the way to listen

    Greetings,

    Richard Pryor: "Black Death" sketch

I am posting this because the music got stuck in my mind the first time I heard it, described by someone to me as "country funk". Very much on point with its message; yet the artistry in which the message was presented has seldom been rivaled, if at all.
