Notice how they are watching each others arms and not covering the head and not making intentional shots to be stopped?
that's what I noticed. TO that end, this "drill" would not be in my regimen as it is not effective.
The intention to strike isn't even there. If a person were drilling to stop a shot, it ...well, it doesn't work like that.
Even in something like sam sing (3 star blocking) both people training should be doing there darndest to hit the other guy. That way both movements of attack and defend are brought closer together and in a more realistic fashion.
Kung Fu is good for you.
It's hard to evaluate this drill without some context, specifically what the purpose and intent of the "drill" is and what qualities it is meant to develop. That's not at all clear to me. I wouldn't call this a drill, it appears more like (very) light sparring.

@3:50 up on his tippy toes to get some flashy shots in?!? hmmm.. not much to do with WC (or anything much usable in a fight IMO). And he does it a lot from that point on. not what I would consider proper WC power delivery or body method.
I also see what I would call a lot of chasing hands and flashy moves, with not much intent behind the 'attacks' (which allows the first 2 to work).
But, I tend to agree with David & Andrew's assessments. Without knowing the actual intent of what's being shown, it's hard to make any real opinion on what's going on. drills? very light sparring? who knows..

Agreed.
He punches like a cat swatting at a mouse. But unless you're fighting a mouse, that's just gonna **** off your opponent.I also see what I would call a lot of chasing hands and flashy moves, with not much intent behind the 'attacks' (which allows the first 2 to work).
And yes, on the chasing hands. Ironically, not chasing hands is something the GLWC crowd harps on a lot, but they still do quite a bit of it. Well, that's the case with many WC groups...
But lol at playing sticky-hands with the crash test dummy. GLWC has become quite removed from what WSLVT was...
Seems more like a flashy demonstration than real drilling. I think the best example of this is with the long hook-like punches at 4:58. Those punches aren't even thrown at a real target. The guy pretty much throws his punches into the empty space in front of his opponent.
