Finding the author of Luohan Gong by dialect

This is a question I posted on FB for my friends in Taiwan. It is using the logic of Heaven Ascended Taoist's character choices to identify his location or time period.

The mystery of the cicada's call to identify the author of Luohan Gong.
Luohan Gong has the sentence "Pierce the ears and let the cicada cry."
The characters that mean cry (丁丁) are listed in almost all dictionaries as "man, or tenth of the heavenly stems." They are normally pronounced as "ding ding." But in Luohan Gong they are pronounced "zheng zheng" and can be taken to mean the sound of the cicada. Really it is the sound of your breath exhaling as you practice this qi gong technique.

Where would someone of the Qing dynasty take these characters as "zheng zheng" and use them to mean the cry of the cicada?
If we can identify the location of this phrase during the Qing dynasty perhaps we can identify the hometown of the author.

羅漢功“丁丁”的問題。在羅漢功有一句“雙耳貫孔蟬丁丁。“
雖然現在的人大概都念 ”丁丁--- ㄉㄧㄥㄉㄧㄥ“
這“丁丁”應該念 "ㄓㄥㄓㄥ." 他的意思有四種﹕
1 形容伐木的聲音。詩經·小雅·伐木：「伐木丁丁，鳥鳴嚶嚶。」
2 形容下雨的聲音。唐·元稹·景申秋詩八首之三：「嗢嗢簷霤凝，丁丁窗雨繁。」

3 形容樂器彈奏的聲音。唐·許渾·聽琵琶詩：「欲寫明妃萬里情，紫槽紅撥夜丁
丁。」
4 形容下棋的聲音。宋·王禹偁·黃州新建小竹樓記：「宜圍棋，子聲丁丁然。」

清朝時哪一個方言會念 "ㄓㄥㄓㄥ."
羅漢功這句“雙耳貫孔蟬丁丁。“ 的意思是練習這個氣功要發聲音時間拉長就像蟬
在鳴。
如果知道這是哪裡方言或是知道作家是哪裡來的。

A rough translation:

當胸分手兩腿撐。燕儿挺翅懸空空。
肛門一閉水火靠。雙耳貫孔蟬丁丁。
起落全安兩腎力。曲腰下膝腳輕輕。
行功如要學得秘。時刻常存心兢兢。
Divide your hands at your chest and open the legs.
The swallow opens its wings suspended in the air.
Water and fire rely on sealing of the anus.
Pierce the ears let the cicada cry.
Rising and sinking completely relies on the kidney's strength.
Bend the knees lower the waist and keep your feet light.
On practicing this gong it is essential to learn its secret,
Endlessly working to overcome your heart's desires.
