Scott Adkins Is ‘The Returner’; Imogen Poots Leads ‘Mobile Homes’

Scott Adkins has pounced on the lead in The Returner, a period indie actioner from Boundless Pictures. He’ll star as John Piper, the owner of a speakeasy who refuses to sell Al Capone’s booze during Prohibition and pays the ultimate price. After Piper and his family are murdered, he mysteriously returns from the grave; a revenant, he has nine lives to exact vengeance — and possibly rewrite history.

William Kaufman will direct The Returner from a script by Chad Law, who is also on as a producer. Courtney Lauren Penn and Brandon Burrows of Boundless Pictures producing the film through Boundless’ genre label, Firebrand, which produces genre pictures in the $10 million and under range. Adkins will be next seen in Lionsgate’s upcoming Criminal, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Kostner, and is currently shooting Marvel’s Doctor Strange with Rachel McAdams and Benedict Cumberbach He’s repped by managers Erik Kritzer, Ben Levine, and Brian Wilkins of LINK Entertainment, by The Gersh Agency in the U.S., and BWH Agency internationally.

Imogen Poots has moved into the lead role in Mobile Homes, a feature film adapted from the award-winning short film of the same title. Poots will star as Ali, a young woman drifting from one motel room to the next alongside her boyfriend Evan and her 8-year-old son. Living on the fringe, the makeshift gets by hustling animals in a criminal underworld, but when a crisis rips their lives apart, Ali finds herself in a mobile home community where the promise of a new beginning for her son forces her to reexamine the very meaning of motherhood.

Written and directed by Vladimir de Fontenay (Memoria) with Benoit Soler (director of photography on 2013 Cannes Caméra d’Or winner Ilo Ilo), the Canada-France co-production currently being filmed in and around the Niagra Falls areas. From Lithium Studios, Incognito Films, and Madeleine Films, Mobile Homes was developed by Madeleine Films owner Fréderic de Goldschmidt. Imogen Poots is repped by Independent Talent Group and CAA.
