    RIP Grandmaster Clarence Tai Lee

Grandmaster Lee had a stroke two Fridays ago and passed away over last weekend at the VA Hospital in SF.

I didn't know him that well. He was always present at Bay Area tournaments and always the gentleman. I really wish I could have known him better. He was one of the American pioneers of martial arts, that first generation of great masters.

Does anyone know when he was born? I know he was a great master.
The three components of combat are 1) Speed, 2) Guts and 3) Techniques. All three components must go hand in hand. One component cannot survive without the others." (WJM - June 14, 1974)

He was born in 1927 in the Palama Settlement in Honolulu, HI.

For more information, we are running an obituary in our present issue - the JAN+FEB 2017.
