No one has anything to say about this? I thought it was a pretty clever idea. I like the oversized arm. I like the fact that it will pivot side to side to travel with your technique just like a real opponent's arm will when you engage it. The rubber straps were a pretty simple and straight-forward way to make it work. He also has a vid were he does the actual dummy form on both his Center Line dummy and a regular dummy for comparison. You don't get that nice impact or "banging" on the arms of the Central Line dummy because that arm moves with you.

Here is another new innovative design. A height adjustable, free-standing dummy:

The Centerline dummy has some problems, for me. Some parts of the form can't be done right or at all, and it seems to encourage sticking and wristy actions which I don't use the dummy for.

The Unity dummy looks like it might be interesting. I'd first have to level the arms, then play around with it to make sure it all measures correctly. If it does, then it might be pretty good.

---I agree. And the guy states at one point that it isn't intended to replace a regular dummy, but is simply another training apparatus. But you can't do any of the two-hand actions on it like you would on the two upper arms of the regular dummy. And initially I wasn't impressed with the over-sized arm. But the more I think about it the more I think it would be fun to play around with just because it would be different. But I don't know what he is going to charge for them!

----Yeah, I see it being most useful in a large school with people of varying heights. Or a school with a kids class. But I would be willing to bet it is going to be pretty expensive!

I think the traditional dummy is good enough for what it is. If you want some different training, I think this thing is more useful/has more potential, and costs a lot less. You can make a cheap one by attaching a spring-loaded pvc pipe to a freestanding makiwara.

Or a home with growing children.

Yeah, that looks like fun as well! And it looks rather phallic....if you have dirty mind. And i thought the Chinese frog button uniform with a ball hat was a nice touch.

Guess I do have a dirty mind then. My first thought was.... good lord, a giant Dil-dummy!!! Who needs that? Just get yourself an aroused porn star as a training partner and stand him on a crate!

Speaking of dummies Keith, I'm looking for a relatively cheap, portable dummy for the gym we rent space at ...maybe a PVC job with a weighted or water-filled base? Then I remembered that you had something like that on your deck in one of the videos you posted. I tried to locate it online with no luck. Can you help me?

    Hey Steve!

This is the dummy I've been using for the past 6 years or so. I really like it! But as you can see, it might not be what you are calling "cheap".

Thanks Keith. It looks good, but a bit pricey for a plastic trunk set-up. Also, I will need a set up with easy height adjustment suitable for people from around 5'6" to 6'3". So I guess I'll keep looking for now.

Hmmm... maybe just slipping flat concrete "pavers" under the base would be an easy solution to raise it up?

Yes, that would be easy enough to do! It is pretty mobile. What I like about it is the padded trunk. It is PVC, but the whole thing covered in an inch of foam under marine-grade vinyl canvas. Put on a pair of MMA gloves and you hit almost as hard as you would a heavy bag. But the arms and leg are hardwood.

I don't mind any changes or innovations to the dummy as long as they don't cause any issue with the core concepts and structures and that is why I was never a fan of spring loaded arms and such.
We should move around the dummy and the arms, NOT be "static" and "force" the arms and dummy to move.

Praise be my Lord my Rock,
He trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle !
