An opinion from another forum:

Boxers only have a hard time handling kicking if they haven't trained against kicking. Why would you assume that a footwork system that is very mobile and evasive would have a problem with kicking?
Boxers have a problem with kicking because the front foot is weighted, often turned in, the rear foot is not turned out, hips are back and not square, and they completely lack specific ideas to deal with kicking from such a disadvantaged stance.

A MT stance has an unweighted front foot pointing forward, hips are forward and square, and the rear foot is turned out- bad for getting hips into punches, good for kicking, kick counters, clinch grappling in the Thai way.

Horses for courses. Adding boxing footwork to VT which already has kicking ideas is a retrograde step
