The Story of Wong Fei-Hung, Part 1 (1949)

A very important film in kung fu movie history. This is the very first movie about Wong Fei-Hung. Starring Kwan Tak-Hing, who would go on to portray Wong Fei-Hung onscreen a record-setting 77 times. Unfortunately, I couldn't find part II online.

There are a couple of beautiful Hung Gar forms demos in the movie:
Fu Hok Seung Ying Kune (Tiger & Crand Double Form), performed by Chan Hon-Chung.
Ng Long Baat Gwa Gwan (8 Diagram Long Pole) performed by Wu Waan-Fei.

Kwan Tak-Hing planned to make 108 films but fell short. Read my archived article Kung Fu's Greatest Movie Hero: The Cinematic Journey of Wong Fei Hung

The goal of 108 Wong Fei Hung movies was an ambitious one. I know that 108 is one of those important numbers in Chinese culture.

    I don't believe I've ever seen Kwan Tak-Hing in a movie where he wasn't playing Wong Fei-Hung.
