    Suggestion

I would be very interested in a training DVD featuring Master Ma Wenguo’s Mad Demon Staff and associated drills.

    Funny you should mention that...

Master Ma was working on something for us. I had proposed to do something in our studio, but he said he had access to much better facilities and would be happy to put something together just for us. Given his position in the film industry, we accepted his proposal. Last I heard, he said he had completed filming, but could not complete it due to the quarantine in PRC.

TC Media has been furloughed for the last 3 weeks due to the Shelter in Place orders in California, which is why I've not been around here much lately, so I don't know where it's at now. We do have more vids queued up for this issue and will release them when we resume work.

This issue is surely dying on the newsstands. I imagine all of the outlets that have a large enough newsstand to carry a niche mag like ours are closed. There will be a lot of cleaning up to do when this is all over.

    Stay strong and healthy everyone.

B&N distributes the bulk of our magazines

Our Spring 2020 issue was already on newsstands when this happened but all the stores closed so it will have a major impact upon our sales.

Barnes and Noble will stop selling new magazines
April 26, 2020 By Michael Kozlowski 43 Comments

Barnes and Noble has shuttered over 500 of their 600 bookstores in the United States and the bookseller has announced they are no longer going to be ordering new magazines and will cease carrying them altogether.

“It will probably be a bigger deal for smaller publishers who count on the money they get upfront from B&N,” said one industry veteran, who noted that big newsstand titles, like Hearst’s Cosmopolitan and Meredith’s People, are far more reliant on other retailers.

The lack of new magazines at Barnes and Noble will likely drive people to Target or Walmart to purchase them. Overall, magazine sales through Walmart and Target have jumped over 3% this year, while supermarket sales are up 12%. Walmart accounts for 17% of all magazine sales in the United States in 2019.

Update: Alex Ortolani, Director, Corporate Communications at Barnes and Noble told Good e-Reader
“We have temporarily paused magazine orders due to store closures related to COVID-19. When we reopen stores we will once again sell magazines.”

Although the statement is appreciated, people who want to buy new magazines at the 100 remaining stores that are open, will not be able to. New magazines will likely not be appearing anytime soon, nor will the B&N reopen their closed stores in the immediate future.

    Disney+ date October 27th?

Looks Like We May Know When Mulan Will Arrive On Disney+

The entertainment industry has come to a halt due to global health concerns, resulting in a ton of changes that should be felt over the next few years. After theaters closed, a number of highly anticipated blockbuster were delayed, including Disney's live-action Mulan movie. Niki Caro's blockbuster was pushed back a number of months, with an intended theatrical release of July 24th. But now it looks like we may also know when Mulan will eventually be available to stream on Disney+.

The House of Mouse has been making moves over on Disney+, producing original content and also being a home for all things Disney. Obviously Mulan was expected to eventually arrive on the streaming service sometime after its run in theaters, although now we may have an idea as to when that might happen-- and its all thanks to social media. One Twitter user recently asked when Mulan was heading to Disney+, to which the verified help account responded:

Well, that seems pretty cut and dry. At least it did, because the tweet revealing Mulan's possible Disney+ date as October 27th has since been deleted. So should we expect this live-action remake to be available to stream just a few months after its new release date?

The tweet in question came from the official Twitter of Disney+ help, before it was promptly deleted from the account. The streaming service just announced a ton of original content that'll be available for subscribers, leading for some fans to ask for specific projects on social media. That's exactly what happened in this case, with someone who was controlling the Disney+ help account revealing the possible Mulan Disney+ release date. But since the tweet has also been deleted, the House of Mouse may have other plans.

Disney fans can watch the original Mulan on Disney+. You can use this link for a free 7-day trial to the streaming service.
What a tease. I came really close to putting Mulan on the cover of our Spring 2020.
