Thread: double daggers

    double daggers

So I've been scowering the internet far and wide trying to find a higher quality
    set of double daggers.

I've found that you can buy all other chinese weapons from total cheapy to very high quality stuff.

Yet there seems to be no options other than these cheapy things

    http://www.wle.com//products/w043.html that I can find.

I've tried to look through other sources - like regular knife collections/stores but on the internet it is kind of hard to tell whether they really fit.

Anyone have any source for some appropriate higher quality daggers?

Those ring daggers are basically the same as you'll get anywhere.
If it's a question of quality of steel and all that, then try and find a set from a decent forge.

but that is the shape of them as far as tcma double daggers go.

    p.s put a lanyard on em...heh heh.

    everwhere including here

    Twin Daggers

There are knife shops everywhere. If you want to learn with a live real blade, there's no problem in getting something the same size, more or less. It's hard to find that ring pommel, but most kung fu forms don't make use of that. It's an artifact of traditional style.

look for Cold Steel's True Flight Thrower...inexpensive and well made and nearly identical to the shape of the common chrome double daggers.

Ditto, that's what I use and I got them free with a moderate order. WL Double Dagger set doesn't use the rings anyhow.

Just practice a lot before going 'live' as a dagger in the leg is not a pretty sight (you know the move :-) can anyone say Crazy Frank??? ).

I have scars on my body from training the two-person double dagger vs empty hand, remember that one? Of course I had to always do the empty hand side! One instance at a Chinese New Year Steve sliced my arm up pretty good.

Cold Steele's Shanghai Shadow looks like one of the daggers. they are sold separately so for a set, it would run $73.98 plus shipping and such...

Not sure why... This is the actual image of the 'real' dagger

    http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._2028_20351776

and here is the standard ones sold that are not 'real' knives

    http://www.wle.com//products/w043.html

About the only difference I can see - without actually touching them, is that the 'real' blades are (1) more expensive (over 2x more) which is to be expected, (2) black (yeah, silver blades would be better...but it IS a real blade), and (3) the 'real' ones do not have the handles wrapped or the rings on them that you can affix little flags. - both of which can be remedied with standard things from sporting goods stores and then from the hardware store (key rings work fine.

The two would not necessarily fit flat together like the cheaper ones...but I have never seen a real pair so do they REALLY fit together anyway?

An option was asked for...this is about the only thing out there that will actually hold an edge and would look and feel like the traditional Chinese double daggers.
