Very interesting that a "no-soldier policy gave rise to the prosperity of stick martial arts, and sword skills were gradually integrated into it, with sticks instead of swords becoming normalized". That sort of reminds me of that Japanese sword master that could defeat samurai swordsmen just with his wooden weapons. Maybe replacing weapons with sticks could get Wushu into the the Olympics and other venues..
