    First forum review

    Watched the first 2 episodes

There are good roles for Jimmy & Ronny. It’s a weird vision of Chinatown. And the Kung Fu angle is robust. About halfway thru the first episode, I got confused as to what this was supposed to be. Then when the credits rolled, I remembered this is Waititi. It's a spoof of how Asians are depicted in police procedurals (I watch my share of police procedurals, so I totally get it now).

By episode 2, I just surrended to the quirkiness and enjoyed it. It’s not lol funny but it’s got some funny scenarios. There’s some dreadfully overdone pratfalls but the work. It’s got a really odd rhythm - the meta TV take is weird, but enjoyable. Ronny keeps it real. Jimmy’s part is a bit stilted but he’s making it work ok.

    I’m in. I'll watch more.
