Whats the correct cantonese term for 'Arrow Walk'?

Arrow stepping is called 'Biu Ma' and Biu Ma Kuen is arrow punching. This is the stepping you get in the Chum Kil form and is also your basic WC forward stepping. When its at 45 degrees is classed as triangular stepping, and when the step is circular it is known as 'huen ma' from the biu jee form.

You train all these steps when you learn the wooden dummy form

Hi,

Arrow Step would literally be "Jin Bo", though "Jin Ma" (Arrow Horse) is something I've seen more often. "Jin Kuen" (Arrow Fist) is also a popular name in WCK, as a pre-pole set in Yip Man system, an early loose technique in Sum Nung, and a full empty-hand set in Pao Fa Lien and Cho Family.

Biu Ma would literally be "Darting Horse". Some people also use Bik Ma or "Pressing Horse".

I think classically, as you say biu has become mistaken for meaning arrow when it is closer to thrusting or darting. However, clasically, most of the Ip Man lineage call it Biu Ma.

I knew a Canada/US Mohawk named Standing Arrow. I always wondered where he hid his arrow as he darted high beam to high beam in building skyscrapers in NYC. He has gone on to happier hunting grounds. Tough guy.
