    Fighters

    Here is a random thought...

    Ok fighters....

How many get to the highest level such as Ali, Sugar Ray, GSP, etc.

    My guess is not many....

    So why?

Maybe to improve skills you need to approach training in the correct ways.

Maybe most fighters, fighter everything, every drill is done with the same mndset and this make it difficult to improve skills.

Obviously other factors like genetics, quality coaching etc play a part but this come from a teaching thought and those who teach probably see the types of people I am thinking about...

people who treat every drill as a fight, competition etc.

    Merry Crimbo....

Elite level athletes are elite because they are predisposed to be elite.
The genetic factors are NOT to be underplayed since they are THE deciding factors.

And it's not only in the fight game but any physical endevour.

As Clint Eastwood would say, " A man's gotta know his limitations".

The good thing is that (typical)training regimes and protocols are not designed for the elite but for the average Joe.
The issue IS when the average Joe decides that are not average and tries to adopt the elite training regime and then, well...enough said eh?

Three elements are key for a fighter:

    1. The person (or genetics, however you want to say it)

    2. Training Methods

    3. Style

Genetics and natural ability play a huge part in any sports or athletics. You may love a good Rudy story but the fact is someone who is 5'6" and 140 pounds will not be playing linebacker in the NFL. Similar in combat sports is someone who trains hard and has natural ability will have the edge over someone who trains hard but does not have natural ability. Just the way it goes.
