Sifu Nick, out of curiousity you mentioned you also practice iron palm. Does the iron palm connection come from Tam Sam's interaction with Ku Yu Cheung? I always wondered about that. I know they didn't teach each other but rather exchanged students so perhaps some of Tam Sam's students learned iron palm as part of the exchange.
Hi CLFNole,
What I know is that Master Tarm Sarm definetly practised Golden Bell Chi Gung prior to ever meeting Master Ku Yu Cheung. Because of this I assume that Master Tarm Sarm may have also at the time been practising Iron Palm. You are also correct in stating that the two Masters never learnt from one another.
The iron palm training my Sifu teaches was part of his martial training under his Sifu Master Kong Hing back in 1959 in HK. The iron palm training is from the Buck Sil Lum style (Northern Shaolin) of Master Ku Yu Cheung known as "King of the iron palm". Kong Hing learnt Buck Sil Lum from his father Kong On, a student of Tarm Sarm who was one of the 5 exchange students between the schools of Tarm Sarm and Ku Yu Cheung. These 5 exchange students from Tarm Sarm's school would later teach both the Buck Sing CLF and the Buck Sil Lum styles to their own students.
I also know that not all Buck Sing schools teach iron Palm. That depends on their Lineage and Teacher and also the connection to Master Ku Yu Cheung.
Have you seen these pics/article below of your Master Lee Koon Hung talking about Iron Palm?

Wow, Sifu Nick great stuff I had not ever seen that and it is not part of the collection of materials my wife and mother-in-law gave me. Perhaps one of sifu's brothers has this not sure. I know sifu had done some iron palm but because he was sick he was unable to teach any of us here in the states.
Thanks for sharing.
Clfnole if you like, send me your email address and I'll scan the article and forward it to you, as I'm sure it means alot to you.
Sifu Nick I sent you a PM with my contact info. Whenever you have time to send it is fine and thanks again.
Hi CLFNole,
I just sent you the article and a PM...
all the best,
Nick
