Bisping (seen by most as at best a mid level gate keeper) managed for two rounds to do what no one, not even silva, has managed to do, ie stop Chaels takedowns and beat him up on his feet. That is what we are giving his props for, what you don’t seem to think is note worthy: stopping a D1 wrestler who has the best blast double in MMA from taking you down for two rounds (and when he does take you down managing to pop right back up without taking any punishment) others here see as being very good, particularly coming from a guy who has no real history of wrestling
We also disagree with you on other things, the cage for example doesn’t help defend the takedown and did not give bisping the advantage, if anything it aids the wrestler as most grapplers here know, and bisping did not just stuff the takedowns out on the fence but also out in the open, and his cage control and ability to fight with his back to the cage (not to mention turn chael around and control him up against the fence) was also noteworthy
If you don’t agree that’s fine but don’t get upset when people call you on what they see as reading the fight wrongly
As for Sonnen deserving credit for naturalizing Bispings striking, well of course he does and so what? He won no one is questing that, we are simply pointing out bisping did much much better than most thought he would, did much better than anyone else has at stopping Sonnen’s takedowns and the fight was much tougher than for him than it was meant to be, you tend to give credit to the guy that did much better than anyone thought he would (even if he eventually loses) rather than the guy who won like everyone expected him to but struggled much more than he was meant to
