I know this isn't a lifted track. I briefly debated whether to include it, then decided what the heck.
One of the reasons I started this thread is also because of the memories that music in movies evokes, either through association with the original film/show/album, etc.; or through their being lifted and used in KF films. The practice of using lifted music in KF films started around the late 1960s and basically ended by the mid-'80s, though it still occurred at least a bit into the late '80s. I'm sure that this song will bring back memories for some, especially those who were around and saw NRNS in the '80s. I know it does for me.
NRNS could be considered an "American kung fu movie", as it followed the same conventions as many of the KF films, i.e., the mediocre martial artist who is humiliated and must train hard, usually with the aid of specialized equipment, to face a seemingly unbeatable villain. Cheesey it may be, but I always liked this movie, and this song. Either in spite of, or because of this cheesiness, I always enjoyed NRNS much more than The Karate Kid and Rocky IV...movies whose markets it was clearly attempting to appeal to.
NRNS has some other KF movie connections; the film company was Hong Kong-based Seasonal Films, which produced Secret Rivals I & II, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, Drunken Master, etc., etc. Also, it was the first U.S. film work by director/choreographer Corey Yuen (Yuen Kuei).

For its release in Western countries, The Big Boss's soundtrack was re-scored so the music would have greater appeal for Western audiences. For this purpose, The Peter Thomas Sound Orchester (orchestra) was asked to create a new soundtrack, which was done very successfully. IMO, it's much better than the original music. Although Peter Thomas was still never credited with the re-score in the opening credits. These are only a few of the tracks.
