Cheung Hung Sing began teaching his gung fu in fut san in 1849-1851 on an underground level as he was designated to teach an army of fighters for the up and coming tai ping rebellion. He was a general of the Tai Ping Army. He officially established THE FIRST Hung Sing Kwoon 洪勝舘 (Great Victory School) in Fut San. Next is, Chan Din Foon didn't go blind until 1875. From 1867 - 1875 (7 years) Cheung Hung Sing re-opened his own school that was formerly known as 佛山洪勝舘 Fut San Hung Victory School (pronounced as Fut San Hung Sing Kwoon). Except this time, he changed the schools name to " Fut San Great Victory School" 佛山鴻勝舘. So, there's absolutely no way he was sent there by Chan Heung to become Chan Din Foon's successor."ALLEGEDLY" Until Chan Din Foon went blind in 1875, his schools name was "Great Saint School" 洪聖舘. This name is also pronounced as Hung Sing or Hung Shing. But you can clearly see that Cheung Yim's 洪勝/鴻勝 Hung Sing name is definitely NOT THE SAME as Chan Din Foon's 洪聖 Hung Shing or Great Saint name. He may have taken over the physical location of where Chan Din Foon may have (no proof yet) taught. But if he was chan din foon's successor he would not have changed the schools name and replaced it with his own. So that put to rest this idea that he succeded Chan Din Foon's Great Saint School.
