Being humble is a character trait that is changeable in my view.
It (humility) only requires that you understand that everyone on this world has something to offer.
It doesn't mean you have to be obsequious with or ingratiate yourself to everyone.
It's simple manners, courtesy and a modicum of decorum when interacting with others and recognizing that the person on the lowest spoke of fortunes wheel is worthy of your regard. You can of course stop regarding that person based on their actions towards you etc, don't be a doormat and think that's being humble, because it's not.
As for morality, well, no one knows the vicissitudes that effect the character of another person ever until they act.
Humbleness is not a moral, it is a state of being and it's certainly not a constant for the simple reason that there are those who do not warrant your humility. I mean, hey, even Jesus is said to have kicked the scammers out of the temple and he was ****ed! So, take from that what you will.
Kung Fu is good for you.
The humble martial artist idea might come from monks from the Chan traditions. No materialism, No ego and more of these things
Maybe "humble" is just the wrong translation. "Merciful and courteous" is probably closer to the idea.
humble comes from being a fukin decent human being

"If you think you are good, come and try me."
If you
- have this kind of attitude, you are not humble.
- don't have this kind of attitude, your MA training won't go very far.
When you are
- in the ring (or on the mat), you act like a tiger and try to eat your opponent alive.
- not in the ring (or on the mat), you act like a sheep and be the nicest person on earth.
In other words, you are humble when you are not fighting. But when you are fighting, you try to make your opponent to be humble.
