Whats up Gene.

...is gone now?
Schools all relocated? Must be quiet. How is Su Xi holding up?
Hey Gene! Having a great time, wish I were there.
Bring me back a shaolin monk bobble-head, preferably with a suction cup on the feet so I can mount it on my dashboard for my edification as I drive.

Gene or anyone else,
I'm curious, what do these shaolin monks in China, the temple, or the ones that tour the US say about fighting? What are their basic principles, stratgies, foundation and stuff?
When you visit the Shrine to me, kow tow 3 times.
REMEMBER: I Am Sin The' and you are not.
Is Su Xi that really old monk? I was thinking he was made abbot of the Southern Temple that's being builtHow is Su Xi holding up?
...is one of those 'really old monks.' Unfortunately he has parkinsons. I had the great honor of meeting him, and the priviledge of listening to him speak for quite some time about Shaolin history, philosophy, and martial arts...he is one of the 14 or so monks who returned or stayed at Shaolin during the CR, and is one of the Four Olds. From what was told to me, he had a pretty rough time of it during the CR.
Many of the monks owe their martial and Ch'an heritage to this man as well as some of the Wan's and other Su's...
Here is the list of generational names, which actually comes from a poem written by the Abbot Fu Yu:
Fu hui zhi liao jue
zi ben yuan ke wu
zhou hong pu guang zong
dao qing tong xuan zu
qing jing zhen ru hai
zhan ji chun zhen su
de xin(g) yong yan heng
miao feng chang jian gu
xin lang zhao shan shen
xing ming jian chong zha
zhong zheng shan xi xiang
jin zhi yuan ji du
xue ting wei dao shi
yin ru gui yuan lu
I also heard (read?) that he had been made the Abbot of the new southern temple, and that quite a few of the monks have sort of made that their headquarters so to speak...but from what I saw of his condition it would seem that doing a lot of traveling would prove difficult for him.
