Ouch, he sez.
I tend to copy all my Tapes to HD these days and store the tapes.
This way I can pop up the MPEG file at work and watch it during lunch.
Witty signature under construction.
How do you copy tapes to your computer?

By using a MPEG encoder/decoder.
Plugs in between VCR/DVD and the PC, I can transfer files to and from.
Some PC's got them already build-in.
The Software with it also allows editing and saving the Video in different formats (MPEG, AVI, Real, etc.).
Since I got a DVD R/W on my notebook I can copy the Tapes into DVD format or save them as VCD's.
And NO I don't distribute said copies.
Cheers.

You need a video card which has video capture. I've been meaning to get one of those for a while. Then you just plug your VCR to your comp, press play and record.
Or you could set up your camera to record your TV screen as your VCR is playing. This way you get that authentic bootleg look for all your videos
If its an E. Montague tape I wouldn't worry mate.
