I think the Sanda vs Karate in question is the one that took place in Fuzhou on 10-25-03. It was a san da vs shoot-boxing competition.Originally posted by lkfmdc

Nope, wouldn't have been the shootboxing vs San Da event. First off, the result was Shootboxing won most of the matches. Second, shootboxing guys wear long tights.
Look here

You will see the guys in the blue shorts that say Dai Juku
No, it is shootboxing from Japan.Originally posted by lkfmdc

Now, this is coming straight from the shootboxing official website. Unless you know there's another shootboxing organization in Japan, this is the one.
The japanese guy who fought in the 55 kg division, 60 kg division, 65 and 67 kg division were all SB champion at that particular weight class (according to SB ranking as 7/22/03).
The Japanese guy who fought in the 85 kg division is rank 3rd in the SB 85 kg division.
As to why the japaneses lost so badly, didn't see the fights so I can't say.

One of Ceasar's guys told me it was 3;2 but I just read the page...
STILL, the pictures that were on Shrub's link were of Dai Juku guys, in the blue shorts, NOT shootboxing guys who wear the long tights,
AND, those matches were NOT "last Sunday" anyway
It was televised live on national TV.

Wasn't the fight against US boxers the one where the Chinese team used Sanda rules and the boxers could use only boxing rules? Too bad Roy Jones wasn't on the team. All the kungfu fighters attending the upcoming fight have been selected from the Chinese police and army. In October 1998, Qianwei's team beat a team from the United States by 8:1 in a fight between Chinese kungfu stars and American boxers held in Beijing. In 2000, it defeated the Russian national boxing team. In 2001 it beat Thai contestants 4:3 but lost three months later in Thailand by 3:4. According to Qianwei Sports Association, negotiations about the rules of competition are underway
