What do you think of this school?

Well i'm guessing since no body responded to my other thread that no one knows of any BJJ schools in my area. The closest thing I could find is this place: http://ctabjj.com/ which is about an hour and a half to a 2 hour drive from where I live. I'm not really sure what to make of these guys seeing as how they only have purple belts in BJJ. Im guessing they mostly teach ju-juitsu mixed with BJJ and various striking arts based on their backgrounds. What do you guys think? Worthwhile or not?

    V555, where are you?

I'm in Asheville, only about 20 miles from these guys.
Never heard of them but when I have a free evening I'll go by and talk to them. Won't be this week but maybe next.

thanks for the tip. been looking for someplace else to train.

"If you find the right balance between desperation and fear you can make people believe anything"

"Is enlightenment even possible? Or, did I drive by it like a missed exit?"

    It's simpler than you think.

    I could be completely wrong"

"they only have purple belts in BJJ"

you know how long it took to JUST get purple belt in BJJ...I would say at least 4 to 5 years. Purple Belts in BJJ CAN teach under the BJJ guidelines. It also means they are pretty good fighters, as those belts aren't easily handed to you...

In a nutshell, don't expect your first belt rank in BJJ until a year or two of training, then it will be blue. Here's a good article:

    or

heck, blue belts can even teach the basics http://bjj.org/academies/blue.html

or you can just go to the school, say "you guys only have purple belts", point and laugh at them

^ Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware if that. I figured it was like most of the karate schools around here as far as getting belts goes. I'll definitely have to check that out when I get my license(sp).

Oso: I live about 10 minutes from hickory.
