I have a signature.
sure it does - works in boxing too. For all practical purposes, it's the same thing as a straight right.
i'm nobody...i'm nobody. i'm a tramp, a bum, a hobo... a boxcar and a jug of wine... but i'm a straight razor if you get to close to me.

Its what I've been saying for years.
Its ALL relative.
Yeah, but he rechambered the fists too, all the way to his ribs, before throwing it again.

So?!?!?!
Its relative.
The guard and the chamber are relative positions to the shoulder.
amen halleluya
gimme more reverse punches!!!
looked like jabs to me, but what do i know?
[edit] watched again and i can see what your saying with the chambering.
where's my beer?
only the front hand can be a "jab"
how come?
where's my beer?
Because that is the definition of a jab. If the rear hand punches, it is a cross (or in this case, reverse punch).
Why do they call it a straight punch and a reverse punch in Karate? It just is.
I have a signature.
They call it a reverse punch in karate because the hand in the chamber is fingers up and the punch is fingers down.
Tis the power of Hawaiian Kempo. All non-believers have been silenced
Gee, punching a guy in the head with your rear hand actually works? Who knew?
No they don't!Originally posted by SifuAbel

You were on a roll until that one! It's called a reverse punch in karate because the stance is opposite to the punching hand.

Yeah, works great if you are Chuck Liddel AND your opponent is only covering up defensively and not firing back shots of his own. It's also potentially a great way to get yourself KTFO if your opponent is throwing bombs of his own.
Why do you always assume a technique is fighter specific? High kicks only work for Cro Cop, reverse punches only work for Liddel? Every technique worth it's salt leaves you vulnerable to something, but that doesn't mean every guy you fight is going to know how to exploit it.Originally posted by Knifefighter
