Most people talk about the 18 lohan/luohan. Do this have any connection with Luohan 13 form?
Many thanks

Hi
AS far as I know, 18 Luohan Hands is an antique form os boxing. As usual, there are lots of stories about this... stating that it was created by Ta Mo himself, and so on...today there are various versions of this set. There is an eagle claw form with that name, and many other styles have this name in one of their forms.
I suppose this is not related to "13 luohan" , where does it come from?
Kindest regards

Wong View Kit has good infor on the internal 18 hands of Lohan....
we have some in Eagle Claw and most Shaolin styles have 'em as well....
Lohans are "balanced" forms, used for intermediate students...
we got some vids of the applications of the Eagle Claw Lohans at www.selini108.com
check 'em...

I do praying mantis style, and we have a set of 8 lohan exercises, so i'm not sure what that's about. Any ideas?
Black Mantis
I believe that these 8 lohan excerises in PM are breathing excerise for health and not necessary will anyone in fighting.
A Lohan is a theravadan saint essentially.
The buddha taught 16, which later became 18 and ultimately, throughout the so called 5 dynasties some 500+ lohan became popular subjects of buddhist paintings and knowledge.
In regards to kungfu, Lohan is an homage to the buddhist roots of a given practice.
There really isn't much as far as sequential goal oriented exercise or forms that is positively the same from school to school.
cheers
Kung Fu is good for you.
