...the more things stay the same.

Interesting read in the Feb. IKF. Besides the cover story already mentioned, the article on the hung gar apps. were VERY nice. Kudos to Sifu frank marez.

I also liked the the 7 star quick knockdowns. And, the fa jing article.

Honorable mention was the klingon article , for pure enjoyment of course. and the the Silat apps.

One thing that struck me funny was the MT drill on page 94. Southern Monkey style does the exact same drill of various kicks. The more things change........

If you want a real laugh look at the cover of the special WC issue of KFM.

got that, its kinda funny. I do like the arcticle on using the medical tubing for slow form punch training. I plan on using that.

Whats funny about the exercise I mentioned is that if it were presented as a monkey tactic, it would be ridiculed. Yet, since its presented as an MT tactic its somehow acceptable.

why do you think it would be ridiculed if presented as a monkey tactic?
bear in mind I haven't seen the article.

    That's simple:

Because the people who'll do the ridiculing have a preconception that kung fu=crap and Muay Thai=good, or some variation on that theme.

The answer is to show them good kung fu.

    Oh, okay, that bias.
I thought that the statement was specific to people having something against monkey style. or southern monkey, which i wasn't aware of.
