    Squats

Ok, I have been reading how good squats are, but I am finding lots of contradictory info.

My question is: How long a rest period do I need? Can I do squats every day? Every other day?

Strength and stamina, in that order.

    Not interested in size.

Here are some questions which will help me to understand your question.

    1. What is your performance goals for squating?

    2. Where do you go to practice your squat?

    3. When did you first learn to squat?

    4. Why do you think squating will help you?

    5. Do you have any present limtations or concerns that might hinder your performance?

    6. How do you squat? Who taught you?

    7. What is your fitness and health background?

    8. What attritubes do you want to gain?

10: What is your technical level rating a scale from 1 to 10 for squating?

    Red face

How long is your rest period for a pushup?

    See what I mean?

Anyway, 5 x 5 waving the weight between sets, 3-4 minute rest periods, 2-3 times a week is a good all-around approach for strength.

Well do you get my point? Squats are an exercise that can be used in a variety of ways. I recommend higher reps in general until you get the form down, but IMO 5 reps or less is the way to go to get the most bang for your buck strength-wise.

As far as endurance, it is very sport-specific so I would suggest running or forms or whatever you're doing already. Squat for strength. If you want to squat for conditioning, still do low rep sets- throw 50 jumping jacks in between each set and your conditioning will be off the charts.
