Interesting to see what's good and bad about high kicks in the one fight. That guy is SERIOUSLY fit. It would have been all I could do to land a decent leg kick in that last round.
Interesting to note that he did surprisingly little damage with his kicks (but then I'm a heavyweight)

The good thing about high kicks is that they allow you to knock out a majorly powerful boxer that outweighs you by more than one hundred pounds, uglifying him in the process:

Thumbs down Korean TKD Vs MT

I don't know but there is something seriously wrong with this "bout". It's more like a show intended to make people think that TKD is a viable art in the ring. Personally, I am not convinced by this demo.

First and foremost, the supposed MT guy is much taller and has definite reach advantage but he never ever make use of this. What's worst is that he acted like at times in fear of the shorter guy's kicks both high and low. So there's something fishing there already given MT is about dealing with strong kick whether high or low. This MT guy is more like a kicking or punching bag of the TKD (I suspect he got pay off before hand). The boxing skill is poor to the point that footwork is way off. He got lucky that the TKD guy almost always put himself off balance after the high kick which the commentator keep saying it in English "high kick" (as if....). Which bring the point why couldn't he finish the bout earily on?

I would think that they intentionally mismatch the size and skill level to boast the prowess of TKD. BTW, the TKD kicked the MT guy in the groin at least twice and the referee didn't even bother to want him about that?! WTF? Also everytime there's a clinch and/or close range stuff happen the ref almost always eagerly to jump in and break it off - favortism towards the TKD guy who seem to have little to no experience in that range. So either the match is a fix or the trainer of the MT is really not up to par IMHO. For all intent and purposes, this is just a show of power to prop up TKD. *two thumbs way down*

This dude has won a few K1 matches with his TKD. Three wins, four losses.

Cool And now for some Karate MMA

Beside the normal MMA flow from range to range watch out for those wild head butts! Now high kick can work very well too. Some Karate eh?

a good left hook will do the same thing...

and that varies with kicks also. check out the vid I posted. there are several head kicks that didn't phase his opponent.

That's because the guy you posted had poor body mechanics. His legs were just kind of flailing around. Plus the guy was so much taller than him that he had to kick too high. Looks like he had fun though.

In general, I agree with you. But Kaoklai's hands are pretty weak so he didn't have the juice to knock out Mighty Mo. It would be ridiculous for him to go anywhere near trading blows with him. Mo tends to take out guys with one shot, and he's really good at countering low round kicks with his huge overhand. I think staying away and using his strongest weapon was the best thing for Kaoklai to do.

    Shenme?

I'm an ESL teacher and even I couldn't make heads or tails of this! It was a TKD vs MT fight being shown. Gong Fu doesn't even enter into the equation. Please learn how to write in complete sentences; we all will thank you if you do.

you're actually making my point for me. kicks do have the possibility of doing that. Hands do also. Nothing is really absolute in fighting.

Mighty Mo just didn't fight to his own strength, probably done better if he stood his ground and block the MT kicks and lesser extent punches, then counter punch. Instead he tried to take the fight to MT guy and left himself open.
