I would agree that a lot of wing chun could do with being softer, but not that I need to feel this particular strain any more than I need to feel anybody else's. There certainly doesn't seem anything original.
Some of them seem very very badly linked, like they've sacrificed structure completely for softness, and I have come across martial jellies before!
The real question is, does it work on live, resisting hippies?!

Although it can certainly be difficult to draw absolute conclusions from vidoes, based on what I'm perceiving, I absolutely agree with your analysis. Being soft is one thing, structure is quite another.

Anyway the structure in TC is completely different from all Wing Chun lineages (from LeungTung till Wong shun Leung), so i think that it is quite difficult to understand what they are doing...
other videos ...

TansauNg,
Sorry, you can't have it both ways.
If you agree that it is correct that we can't draw conclusions from videos, then you can't use other videos to support your point of view either.
It is quite difficult to see what they are doing because feel is such an important part of the dynamic. We would need to feel the energy to have a better understanding of what's happening. It's interesting none the less.
Thanks,

i think there's a movie clip here of one of my teachers' teachers:

tell me that this is "hard" wing chun and i will try to take you seriously but can't guarantee it.
about tao - it is the source of all things - the infinite - the never dying - and you're calling it new? tao is nature. naturally it's not new. it's the only thing that is never new
I just saw one of the TC clips, and sorry, but there's very little control there of the 'opponents' limbs. That sort of thing you can see on a video (the instance I noticed is when the opponent goes forwards with a punch (holding it out in the air for a long time of course) and the other guy steps forward at an angle walking to the outside of the punch while doing a palm strike on the inside... he's not controlling the guys' punching arm at all and asking for an elbow straight into the chops).
Softness should not mean lack of structure.
