Daido Juku-Bringing Karate back to its fighting roots/mma style

Daido Juku looks sweet, its a European offshoot of the Kyokushinkai which split back in 1981, which has its training geared STRICTLY towards kumite and from what I have heard from friends accepts only advanced or serious players.

Using helmets, they allow headbuts, groin kicks and groin strikes, throws, tackles, elbows, knees, stand up grappling, limited time ground fighting with chokes and joint locks, submission fighting, the only rule I see is no g and p, but the punches from the mount can be simulated for points.

Interesting indeed and nice to see.

SevenStar: It's hilarious seeing people's reactions when they see a big, black dude with a sword walking toward them.

Masterkiller: Especially when they're at the ATM.

WTF? How did we go from the White Haired Devil strangling and beating guys to death in a teahouse, to Mr Miyagi and Jhoon Rhee?

I though he was executed years ago.

Yes, Azuma founded it in Sendai. That was about 5-6 different iterations ago (when it was basically Kyokushin with headgear). 90% of it's practitioners are in Europe (European clubs started in the late '80s and really took off in the late '90s), and most of the later developments originated there.

Well, Blumming's Budo-Kai had been doing that with their all around fighting for ages it seems.
    Europe loves its contact MA

I was asked if I was interested to start up a branch in Canada, I declined, family obligations and stuff, still I think that it is a great sport and has a huge potential.
