Does anyone know what is being talked about here? Does your Wing Chun have these 'stages'?

It's always interesting to see other families, but I do wonder how long it's going to take us to understand that Wing Chun (in it's named form) can only really be Wing Chun AFTER Miss Yim Wing Chun passed away.

This is a great clip of Shaolin Martial Arts, but why call your school Wing Chun when you obviously specialize in other styles mainly being from Wudang influence?

Contorversial, I know, but it's the same old argument as Fukien White Crane being the 'Original Wing Chun'. Martial Artists' using the popularity of one style to help promotions imho...

Personal view being that this format as with Foshan Wing Chun relies too much on the history of Shaolin to forgive the blatant lack of reality, we are moving into a new era of Wing Chun which will take many years to stabilise.

There are those who prefer this type of style of so-called Wing Chun where the applications are more theoretical and hidden, the "secrets" being mystical and shrouded in "elements" and "animals".

My view of Wing Chun has always and will always be that it is a science, "how things work" and as such must stand up practically as well as theoretically, without the usual fancy language of most "ologies" where they create their own words to isolate them from the rest of the world so that they appear to have greater knowledge when in reality they disguise the obvious with made up jargon and phrases.

Smacking a big dummy about is not an indication of ability or experience, actions without thought do not develop anything but sequence, sequence without thought will never create an independant mind that can use techniques when appropriate, to be flexible, or applied in circumstances never faced before.

Nice clip of "Viet Old Timer demo'ing", but would love to know what was in his head while he was practicing rather than trying to translate what it "looks" like. I can see a lot of most martial art forms in that performance, simply because there are restricted ways we can use the arms and legs and hence the similarity and recurrence of techniques throughout the MA world.

My view is that the depth lies in the thinking of the instructor rather than the movements of their bodies.

Hello,


I have a friend in Boston who practices Viet WC. He learned in the Ukraine. He did not study the entire system but much of its empty hand training.

Its interesting but IMO the art has a lot of outside WC stuff in it.

I think, not 100% sure but I think, the form being demo'd is their 5 animal qigong set????

With that last leg-stick break, I'd be kicking my partner's a$$! Next time, don't hit with the end of the stick, but let most of the stick be on the other side so it breaks!
