Hi
Me and a friend are looking to train in China next year at Wudang and were after a bit of advice. We have never trained in China and there seems to be a few schools, can anyone advise were's best to train, we are after the most traditional school?
What school to train at?
What to watch out for?
Time of year to go?
Is it possible to train in the Wudang temple or are the schools situated outside?
Any advice would be much appreciated

hi, kung fu schools in china teach the same things as kung fu schools in western world.
the difference is they train harder, but is that worth paying thousands of dollars for
just stay where you are and train hard and have your sifu beat you with a stick, then its just like training in china
if you have that much monehs to waste send it to me
most kung fu schools have "special treatment" for westerners so youre not gonna be doing what the chinese do anyways.

work for money.
Why go to China for kungfu training?
Your romantic thinking is gonna cost you $$$ lol
Kung Fu is good for you.
if you are not very skilled in the first place there is very little you can learn at wudang/china other than forms. qigong costs a lot of monehs to learn at wudang also
seriously you cant buy skill with money. you cant get skill by travelling to china. you have to punch things and hit yourself with things. a lot.

I have quite a bit of Kung Fu and martial arts training.
I would like to go and train in China to go to the source of where it all came from.
I am going for the experience and to learn some more skills/forms.
I chose Wudang as I prefer there style and Shaolin seems so commercialized now and it looks like they only teach modern wushu.
As I said in the original post I am after some advice.
if you join a school catering to rich chinese and foreigners then its all an illusion. you get told what you want to hear, see wat you want to see.
if u join a real traditional school most westerners cant stomach the living conditions
most westerners cant even survive the "commerical" shaolin schools
wudang is not gonna show you their top training and qigong unless you pay them a lot of money.
if traditional shaolin training intimidates and scares you, dont think wudang will different

you wont find this at Wudang !!
Psalms 144:1
Praise be my Lord my Rock,
He trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle !
if you want to learn only forms then that school the website you showed seems pretty good wink wink. if you want real wudang school then you have to travel to wudang mountain first then ask around. there are over 200 temples on wudang mountain.

If you want to go to China, GO! You'll learn so much just from the experience of traveling. And Wudang is gorgeous. I'd go there just to be a tourist, just to enjoy hiking those holy mountains. Training in kung fu is icing. I've trained a lot in China and it's a great experience. It's not expensive if you're street smart. Sure, there will be people that try to rip you off, but you'll find that at any tourist spot anywhere in the world. And there are plenty of fake masters, just like here. But if you're smart and play your cards right, you can get some great training.
I was only in Wudang in '99, so I can't speak to what it's like now. I've been told that it's gotten more commercial, but I've also training a lot at Shaolin and they say that about there too. Commercialism in communist China isn't really the right term, but there are people that will try to rip you off. Just be smart and that won't happen.
I'd advise you to look up this thread to my earlier post about the Women in Wudang article. The author, David Wei, has studied a lot at Wudang and may be able to advise you. You can probably reach him through his website, which is at the end of the article.
