Can some one translate What's being said about wing chun kuen and leung jan?
CLF is a respectable art.
ok.....
in a nutshell........it was customary for a new gung fu master interested in opening a school in fut san that he fight the top master there. leung jan was the top master of Fut San i suppose. So when Jeung Yim arrived at Leung Jan's place, a student met him and offer him tea and tried to hit Jeung Yim as he went for it. But Jeung Yim was faster and sent Leung Jan's student flying.
This got Leung Jan got ****ed off and challenged Jeung Yim to a closed doors duel. Till this day no one knows what happened behind those closed doors. The general rule was if Jeung Yim lost he wouldn't be allowed to open a school in Fut San. He'd have to go elsewhere.
But in 1851 Jeung Yim opened his Fut San Hung Sing Kwoon. ANd the rest is history.
However, the two came to have MAD respect for each other.

Frank:
Any idea why they interview Chiu Siu Kee so much? Not sure of his connection to Fut San as his sifu was To Hon Jeung who was from the Chan Koon Pak line.
partly i believe because HIS lineage claims to have Yuen Hai in it. He even signed his book that we were family....... But, i agree, he really latched onto the Fut San Hung Sing lineage in a big way. possibly he favors us. IDK.

No disrespect to the WC'ers, but the story of how Jeung Hung Sing came to open his school by fighting Leung Jan was pretty cool. If its true, then it showed that Jeung Hung Sing was indeed a great fighter worth his respect.

I think I remember hearing that Chiu Siu Kei might have also studied with Choy Kwong Yuen or his dad, Choy Jeurng.
As far as the Jeong Yim/Leung Jan story it sounds his but I wonder if it just chest pumping or not. Do their timelines in history even match up? Doesn't really matter because nobody could likely prove it right or wrong.
I enjoyed the documentary.

if you look at the tree, staring with yip man born in 1893, the same year Jeung Hung Sing Passed away and count backwards, yes. I do believe that the two time lines DO match up.
interesting....Chui Cheung and Yip Man were friends. Shows that WC and CLF did have respect for each other as men.In Hong Kong Yip Man met his old time best friend Chung Choui (Go Dai Chung). Go Dai Chung was a Hung Sang Choy Lay Fut teacher and taught through the Chinese Restaurant Association - East and West. Teaching at both locales was too much for Go Dai Chung and he gave one to Yip Man which is located at Dai Lum Gai in Kowloon, Hong Kong so he could teach Wing Chun to make his living.

WC and CLF are only methods. any feuds in the past were the direct result of specific people not the methods themselves.
Great documentary, It's cool to see anthing CLF related like this
